Very popular design for creating a feature or just a functional staircase. Available options:
- closed string - treads and risers are routed into the stringers and are
not visible from the side of the staircase
- cut string - profile of each tread and riser is visible from one or either
side of the staircase
Available in all materials and all styles of balustrades.
In open rise stairs the vertical riser board is not installed letting the light through the steps. That type of design has the the ability
to liven up any room or house. Similarly, as for closed rise design, cut string or closed string options are available.

Curved stairs commonly known as sweeping or helical stairs share common feature i.e. strings (and handrail) are bent to change the direction of a flight.

Similarly, as in open rise stairs, steps have no risers and in addition, due to unique design there is no need for outer string
so the staris can create an impression as if they are floating in midair. Feature in itself, open plan stairs will make any room or house feel light and airy.

Very useful wherever limited space is an issue as the floor space taken up by a spiral staircase is just little more than the diameter of the stair. Available in wood, steel, granite and glass.
